I live in the South of Florida, im 20 years old, full time college student. I have high GPA (good student discount) and have clean driving record and good credit history. Please give me some advice on low cost car insurance companies.
R:
There are various things that you can do to keep your costs low. Even though insurance costs for students under 25 is high you can get good discounts. Is important that you compare quotes with different companies.
You may be able to get some guidance from your college, since there must be many other students looking for insurance.
You can keep you costs low by only buying the minimum required insurance in your state law. You may be able to skip comprehensive and collision coverages which are costly. The only downside is that you will have to pay the cost to repair or replace your car in case of an accident, so it is a risk that you have to decide.
But first ask for any student discounts that you can get:
for example you can use your parents policy if you live with them and it will be much cheaper
enroll in a defensive driving course
install safety devices in your car
drive less and get a low mileage discount
compare quotes
have good grades and ask for a discount
And lastly keep in mind that if you increase your deductible you can lower your premium costs, just be aware that in case of an accident you will have to take more money out of your pocket.
